About the

DigHealth Project

Welcome to DigHealth, an innovative Erasmus+ project officially titled "Micro-credentials in digital health for Ethiopia and Somalia." Our core mission is to contribute to the modernization of the education and healthcare systems in our partner countries by promoting digital technologies and improving graduate employability.

The Challenge We Address

In a world where digital health is a global priority, the need for robust national eHealth strategies is critical, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This need is particularly acute in Ethiopia and Somalia, where remote regions often face significant barriers to healthcare due to geography, civil unrest, and inadequate infrastructure. Recognizing the urgent demand for a digitally-skilled health workforce, as highlighted by a 2022 World Health Organization report, the DigHealth project was created to address these challenges head-on.

Our Innovative Approach

What makes DigHealth unique is our dynamic consortium. The project brings together a diverse group of 10 partners, including universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to ensure a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. For most of our partner universities in Somalia and Ethiopia, this project represents a significant opportunity as newcomers to the Erasmus programme, fostering deep international collaboration and valuable knowledge exchange.

Objectives

To achieve our mission, we are focused on four key objectives:

  • Create new, innovative educational programs and tools specifically for the digital health sector.

  • Modernize existing university curricula to bring them in line with current European standards.

  • Strengthen the capacity of partner universities to ensure they can provide high-quality, sustainable training in digital health.

  • Develop and implement flexible micro-credential programs to directly increase the skills and employability of healthcare professionals.
